Hi Fabrizio,

the new driver seemed to be working fine with DVBDream - however, not when using MediaPortal or WMC.
I am currently awaiting a new driver with additional debugging features, that should enable me to figure out as to if and what e.g. DiseqC commands WMC is sending and where the differences are.

AW: TBS6980 - DVB-S/S2 tuning issue with DiseqC

    Hi,

you have to know that DiSEqC support has to be implemented for each hardware type / vendor in a specific way.

We are already in contact with TBS and they gave us a SDK for implementing DiSEqC support. I will start work on this part soon and can post testbuilds here in this thread.

So if you want to help this development, you should start to attach proper logfiles :p

Hopefully we have support for TBS cards soon :)

AW: Re: TBS6980 - DVB-S/S2 tuning issue with DiseqC

    Hi,

to give an update on my "non-progress". Meanwhile I am on driver version 1.0.0.12, however I am not able to properly tune & scan channels using WMC or MediaPortal.
Both are not able to scan certain frequencies and as it appears, TBS 6980 also has an issue with my Disecq 2.0 Multiswitch.

    With the TBS 6980 Card:
    - WMC only sees one of the two LNBs, the second LNB is not even detected
    - only a limited number of frequencies can be tuned & scanned ( and even this is often not repeatable )
    - HD channels are not detected at all
    - MeidaPortal has similar issues

When using DVBDream and their BDA Driver however, I am able to switch between both LNBs without issues and also get HD Channels tuned and scanned at good quality.
Also other HD and SD receivers work just fine with the Multiswitch, why my suspicion is, that their driver clearly has issues ...
The good thing is, that their support is very supportive and I am contact with them for over a week but so far without much progress.

Has anyone else used a Disecq Multiswitch ( in my case two Quad-LNBs -> Spaun SMS 9801 NF -> 8 Outputs ) with the TBS 6980 ?

Would appreciate any hints in getting this card working.

    Regards

Please upload your complete tv.log (stop tvserver, start , timeshift,...)

I want to check the tvcard detection, because the TBS cards should be generally "GenericBDA" compatible and I want to avoid doubled code...

    @Fabrizio
I can really not tell, if and what is better when using 1.0.0.12, as I didn't get anything to work with earlier drivers. However 1.0.0.12 seems to do a good job with MP 1.1.0 RC1

Meanwhile I have made good progress and things are looking promising. All I have done is to do a complete re-install of everything from scratch and can now claim:
    - DiseqC is working fine ( in combination with MP 1.1.0 RC1 ) with my TBS 6980 card
    - tuning and scanning is working OK for both SD and HD Channels ( yep ! ) ...

In case it is of interest, this is the HW/SW set-up:
    ( HW ):
    - AsRock A330ION Mainboard
    - TBS 6980 Dual DVB-S/S2 ( PCI-E )
    - 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 1066 ( 2x2GB )
    - Silverstone ML02Mx Case

    (SW):
    - Windows 7 Professional 64Bit
    - Nvidia ION-Desktop 64 Bit Driver ( v196.21 )
    - Nvidia hdaudio Driver ( 1.0.0.59 )
    - Nvidia Chipset 64 Bit Driver ( v15.51 )
    - TBS Driver 1.0.0.12
    - iMON 7.85.0222
    - CoreAVC 2.0
    - ffdshow beta7 ( rev3154 )

Even though I seem to have gotten it to work, I am still happy to assist with any debugging / enhancement activities and can do testing, provide logfiles etc. if required.

    Hi morpheus,

find attached my log files for ca. the last 24h hours ( this is a system currently not in productive use ) - I have not cut them down at all, assuming that it'll be safer for you to extract the information you need.

Don't hesitate to drop me a note, in case there is anything else I can help to assist you.

    Regards

    Hi @ll,

just to inform you that after RC3 i got back tuning issues on Sky IT channels, so I'm guessing what changed since last RC2 (stiil all working well).

I'm not using any Diseqc, so just basic tuning functionalities should be used, is there something i need to check?

    ciao

    Fabrizio

PS: I tried also to rescan all Hotbird trasponders, but there are some channels i don't tune anymore (300 channels vs 1200 channels of ofirst scan with RC1 !!!!)

    @Fabrizio
I have made similar experience with my TBS6980 card and I have ended up re-installing everything from scratch, as I really didn't know anylonger what else I could do.
Just today I have finished my re-installation ( from scratch including Windows 7 ) with MP RC3 and will move it into production ( living room ) this evening, to see if it does what it is supposed to do: act as a HD SAT & Media Receiver.

Even with the support of TBS we were not able to get the card to work under WMC ... I am waiting still for a response from them.

Bottom line: Sometimes the card ( or is it my system ) starts to behave wired and I cannot tell, what caused this behaviour ( especially when using DVBDream, everything seems to work ?! )

Did you check, whether you have the same tuning issues, when using DVBDream ?

    Hi,

about DVBDream i can confirm you it has always worked well, for that i'm convinced it's most of the times an issue between MP and TBS drivers.

After several tests with MP2 and MP3, yesterday eveneing i partially resolved - for now - using new beta driver you can get from here:

    http://www.buydvb.net/download2/TBS6980/tbs6980_v2.0.0.1.rar

now I've my MP HTPC working fine and with both of tuners, just few minor problem to be addressed (i.e. "unable to start graph" on MP TV Live while using TVserver preview all is fine...)

    ciao
