Hi all,

just installed mediaportal, this is great!

Just 1 question:

I am using a techno:trend DVB-T USB 2.0 Stick with an active antenna. Usually this antenna is powered directly from the USB stick, but I cannot find the config option to enable the power subbly via USB stick.

Is there a way to enable it via config file ???

Thanks and regards,

donmiguel

Hello all,

OK, lets try to be a little more precise here:

Of course my technotrend USB 2.0 TV stick is powered by the mainboard.

The TV stick itself is capable of sending 5 Volts through the antenna cable to the attached active antenna.

This feature is disabled by default, but can be enabled through the technotrend TV viewer program setup.

Unfortunately mediaportal disables the 5V power supply when it initializes the TV stick.

So: is there any chance to configure mediaportal (or the BDA driver) to send the 5V power supply through the antenna cable, as with the original technotrend software?

(P.S.: I dont want to use the original technotrend software, the GUI sucks...)

Thanks,

donmiguel

It's the first I have heard of such an option.

Why do you need this option enabled? Does it give a stonger signal?

Can you post a screenshots of the option in the TT software please.

    Hi dman_lfc,

I need this option becasue I have an active antenna (built-in amplifier) which is powered directly through the TV stick.

Without the power supply, the signal is very weak and picture quality really poor...

This is commonly used with standalone DVB-T receivers (at least in germany).

There is another TV stick out there which uses the same feature: "Technisat AirStar TeleStick T1". I think the hardware is identical to the technotrend TV stick.

    Screenshot from technotrend GUI (BDA-APP):

    Thanks for looking into this,

    donmiguel,

OK great, I think we can do this.

    Questions...

    1. If you enable the option with the TT BDA App and then run MP - does the power state remain enabled? 2. Or as soon as MP builds the TV graph does it turn the power off?

    This is great news :p
Let me know if I should run some debugging-app while the antenna power is activated / deactivated or test something else...

    It is option 1.
The antenna power is deactivated right after starting MP, even if starting TV is disabled in the MP TV submenu...

    Hi DMAN,

many thanks for working on that so quickly 8)

I could see the new checkbox for external power supply in the setup dialogue, and it does something with the external antenna power, but unfortunately it is not yet very reliable.

I managed once to watch TV with external antenna power on, but that was after I enabled the power with the technotrend application, exited from technotrend app and started MP afterwards.

For the next test I did not enable power via technotrend app. When starting MP, the external power was on for 1-2 seconds (my antenna has a power LED) but then went off again. It did not turn on when entering the TV viewer.

At then next test cycle, the TV viewer totally hung and I had to log off and log on again to get the process killed.

I have also seen that the external power went on once when entering the setup utility, but also went off again.

So, you are tweaking the right settings, but unfortunately this is not very reliable yet.

Let me know if I should run more tests and send you some logs etc.

    Many thanks and cheers,

    donmiguel
