A big title to catch some attention :)

I am a big fan of this skin, so first of all my compliments to the maker.

I always try to make my HTPC look as little as a computer as possible, and for that I do for example the following things :
1. Set the Monochrome background as my default Windows background
2. Change my boot screen and my logon screen to completely hide Windows.

Now I want to optimize point 2, making it specific for the Monochrome skin, so it also has the Monochrome background, that way I always see that background during the startup of my computer, which makes it look like it's one big thing.

I already contacted the maker of this addon (MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - 6 MP Bootskins) to ask if he still has the PSD files of his creations, but he lost those a while ago (I love the 3rd and 4th one).
My Photoshop skills are very bad, so I was hoping this could be included in the skin created by the maker of it, it would make it stand out against the others and it would make it even more complete. I have TuneUp Utilities where you can create the screens, so I can help out for that part, I just need the screens so I can import them there.

Good idea? Bad idea? Let me know!

I'm pretty sure the backgrounds are just BMP's 640x480. They have to be saved in a special program though, to pass for a reall boot-screen, something like this (haven't tried it): Boot Editor for WinXP

You can do that with TuneUp Utilities. I'm just asking the creator of the skin to create a boot screen, I'll do the rest for him :)

Not many reactions... I thaught everybody would love to include this in the skin package cause it makes your HTPC look less PC.
Nobody that dislikes the boot and logon screens of Windows and want to get rid of those?

    I think it's a good idea but...

Whenever the kernel files gets updated (windows update) you'll lose your bootscreen and you'd have to do it over.
You should also be kinda careful with this. The kernel executables have a limited amount of space to reside in, if it get's bigger then that you'll be experiencing problems (like BSODs etc.). The same goes for a lot of the low level windows code

Hey joz, thanks for your reply, I didn't know that.
If I get the developer of the skin to make me a boot screen and logon screen, I'll for sure make them as small as possible to avoid any problems.

On vista at last, the shutdown screen is the logon screen...

Btw, anyone know if it's possible to change the boot screen on vista sp2? (doesnt seem to work anymore since sp1)

    Hi,

i have created a special monochrom background for my Windows XP Desktop.
    Monochrom Wallpaper_2.jpg
If you activate the fast & autmatic Login Function for XP and set the Wallpaper to the Logon on Screen wiht Tweakui (look at the screenshot), then you only see at the start of Windwos and the Ending of Windows this wallpaper.

    tweakui wallpaper logon.jpg

In the www there are a lot of tools to hide the windows task bar permanently. In combination with the bootskin (MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - 6 MP Bootskins), your PC dont't look longer as a Windwos PC.

This works with Win XP, i don't knowk if its work wiht Vista.

I hope you can understand this, my english is not so well.
