[QUOTE="spongedoor, post: 399176, member: 87004"] Hi, I have been STRESSING to find out how to do this.. so sorry if i have missed a previous post or anything but I cannot find help! OK.. I am trying to make the 'ideal video file' for mediaportal use!! PLAN SO FAR: I found out last night about containers.. I am new to all this btw! I want to compress my dvd's to a good quality space efficient bunch of single files. I want to use tv-series and it will be one file per episode.. when it comes to prison break it is alot easier to have all your files seperate than going thru all the menus etc. I managed to work out that i can do this with dvd decrypter to get 1xvob file per episode and this works great.. only problem is space!! so I looked into it.. I found out that you can compress the video into an avi.. this would be good but i then thought about commentary and subtitles.. (i might sound fussy but why not?) so i am NOW thinking about making an mkv file that is the same as a vob in that it contains the movie (video 2xaudio and subs)!! this would be ideal!! but i cant change audio channels and select subs within media player!! grrr! the closest i have got to getting it working is using vlc player!! but that goes out of sync! are there any plans for this to be possible in mediaportal? or am i going down the wrong route? basically i want compressed dvd files that i can select different audio and optionaly turn on subtitles as if i were watching a dvd!! now wouldnt that be nice??
