As someone just over the new user phase, I thought it would have been useful to me to have a thread that gathered together local information such as saorview tuning, channel logos, best weather plugins and all other local info that would help in setting up MediaPortal in an Irish context.

Please add any relevant info or links here!

Following on from the recent changes to SaorView tuning, there appears to be an issue with the default frequencies for tuning SaorView channels into TV Server, confirmed in particular for Three Rock in these threads;

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...-might-help-others.122355/page-2#post-1042848

This manifests as really poor reception (blocky picture, breakup etc.) on Mux 1 channels such as RTE Two HD, TV3, 3e etc.

(y) JJDoherty has taken the time to create updated Saorview DTT frequencies for testing here;

If you're in Ireland, you might test these and confirm that they work for you on that thread so that they can be incorporated into MP as defaults.

    MediaPortal comes the LAV codec pack for decoding tv/video streams. While LAV is a great set of codecs and in active development there are times when interference can disrupt tv reception, more often on DTT terrestrial channels rather then the satellite channels. This can cause problems for some codecs causing them to freeze requiring a reset or to go out of sync with continuous stuttering.

    An alternate codec pack SAF is available that is worth trying if you have issues. I have found the PowerDVD codec (available in the unlocked version of SAF) to be quite robust when it comes to errors in the tv stream and works great for Saorview transmissions.

    TV Card Confirmed Working

    I can confirm that the digital devices DuoFlex C/T/T2 card works perfectly with Saorview and as it's got a twin tuner and there are currently inly 2x muxes, it allows MediaPortal to tune all Saorview channels simultaneously.

    Plus with the (required) Octopus PCIe host card, there are 3x free connectors to allow for the addition of three additional dual tuners (DVB-S2 for example) allowing 8x tuners on a single PCIe slot. I run mine on Windows 8, MP 1.5.

    Here's the link;

    Any other cards confirmed working with Saorview and MediaPortal?
