TheaterTek to view .ts files (1 Viewer)

After going through numerous pieces of software to record files from HDHomerun, I finally found MediaPortal to be the best recording interface. However, playback is not as good. For clear QAM channels that are in SD, I can use MPC to play the files and since they don't lock, I can just start watching them as they record, and the program length builds as it records. This is perfect.

MPC does not handle HD material as well -- it stutters and is not capable of AC3.

I understand that Theatertek will play the files as they record, but when I try to open the .ts files recorded by Mediaportal, I get an unable to build graph error. This is regardless of whether the files are currently recording or have finshed recording. I can play these files just fine with MyHD after recording has finished, and if I run them through HDTV2MPEG, the files work just fine on Theatertek.

Does anyone know what I have to do to get Theatertek to play the mediaportal .ts files?

The alternative is to have mediaportal break up the recording into, say, 5 minutes chunks with a 0000.ts extension. MyHD will play these (because I have a dual core system, MyHD is unable to playback files that are recording, even if they are not locked).

Thanks in advance.

I'm not that thrilled with the PQ in Vlc. Also, when I enable AC3, I get hammering audio and am forced to use stereo sound.

The issue I have with the mediaportal player is that when it goes into fullscreen mode, it won't minimize and I can't access any other programs without closing out MP. Neither Alt+tab nor the windows key will bring back my desktop. The transport controls are a bit wonky on my system as well.

I think the avenue to investigate is enabling hardware acceleration and AC3 audio in MPC. There is a version of MPC called MPC HC that may be able to do what I need. I can't seem to find much if any documentation about theatertek playing .ts files anywhere.
