My HTPC setup has a Sapphire Theatrix 550 TV tuner card that I have a bit of a problem with. The picture quality is great, specially after I upgraded my VGA card from a 9550 to a X1300. The problem all along has been that the TV picture does not fill the entire screen. I got a black bar on the right side of the monitor, about 20 pixels wide.
I have tried several versions of mpeg decoders from cyberlink, intervideo and nvidia, they all give me the same result. The only exception is DScaler5. It seems descaler sets the resolution to 704x576 instead of 720x576 that the other decoders use, perfectly slicing away the black bar on the right side of the screen. When I use DScaler5 the picture fills the entire screen, but DScaler5 does not support the excellent hardware acceleration and de-interlacing from the Radeon X1300. In other words I'm stuck with either underscan or interlacing artifacts.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Cropping with ffdshow is also not an option as this disables the mpeg decoder hardware acceleration.
