I don't have any issues - I just wanted to say thank you.

I have ANT Movie Catalog on my laptop allowing me to update as soon as I have finished backing up one of my DVDs.

The setup is very easy and streamlined - especially when you don't want to have to get up and cross the room to post a new addition!

Thanks for all of your work.

:)

MediaPortal with MyFilms + TV series = the perfect HTPC

Absolutely 100% disagree. For my collection, which I keep completely on my hard drive, why the heck would I want to:

    - spend hours using some external program called "ANT" that isn't even easy to find (google it and you're likely to be pointed to an obscure old version, so unless you're savvy enough about such things you'll end up getting totally lost),
    - be forced to figure out how to run ANT and pick the right importer scripts from a myriad of strange script names, just so I can get my movie collection into Media Portal

    - then have to locate, learn, and use yet more external hacks just so I can get it to parse my complete collection on disc, since ANT defaults to importing a single movie at a time.

I just can't figure out why anyone would use MyMovies unless their collection is totally on DVD/BR discs. It's a ridiculous, convoluted and backwards approach to displaying your movies in Media Portal.

Any movie system in a htpc should:
    - automatically work out the correct names of your movies simply by pointing it at your collection, provided you keep your collection in some semblance of order (like d:\movies\Blah\Blah.avi)
    - automatically download information about the movie from opensource locations
    - automatically download fanart, posters, dvd covers, etc.
    - automatically scan and update itself at regular intervals
    - not require external applications
    - not require the user to understand complex technologies
    - just work without user intervention.

And I can't for the life of me work out why MyFilms is the default for MediaPortal. It made me almost throw MP out the window until I found alternatives.

No disrespect to any authors, I'm just saying that MyFilms is a good way to keep users away from MP if they're expecting it to work with the same seamless integration as the rest of MP...

Noone has said that this is a plugin easy to configure and understand. But, when you have it configured is, by far, the best movies plugin for MP.
PS: I can update my movies collection and download info from inside MP

no one is forcing you to use it... it's harder to setup but its more flexible, for those that like that.
