Thumbnails Not Being Generated For Videos (1 Viewer)

Does MP generate thumbnails for videos? I have RC3. I went to the Thumbnails section in the MP Configuration and tried using different settings on the slider. Yet no matter which setting I try, thumbnails are not being generated for my videos. Am I missing something else?

Yes it does. The easiest way to do this is to import your videos into the movies database, and this will invoke the imdb grabber to grab cover art and other information about all your videos in the folder you scan. Alternatively, if you want to do it one by one, right click on the video and select imdb.

Thanks for the reply. Does MP generate thumbnails from a random frame within the video file, much like Windows XP or Vista does? I have some video files (anime, among others) that do not have IMDB entries, but I'd still like to see a thumbnail instead of just the generic icon.

No, it won't grab a random frame, but if you do this yourself with some frame grabbing software and drop a suitably sized jpg image in C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\team mediaportal\mediaportal\thumbs\videos\title, with the same name as your movie file, it should pick it up.
