Nothing deep here, just reporting that I've installed Mediaportal 1.1.3 (& SAF 5.0), and it was very easy, no problems noticed, and it looks great with the 3rd party Fidelity skin.
Family finds the system intuitive. I wrote instructions for them but they mainly had to do with how to turn the system on and off; actual mediaportal use is easy.
