Time based scheduled recordings (1 Viewer)

Hi

I have two DVB-T tuners with CAM modules and valid encryption (key) cards. For most of the time I only use one tuner, the second one can stay inactive for weeks before I suddenly need to watch one program while recording a second program. The result of one tuner being inactive for a long time is that new encryption keys are not received, and hence don't work when I need the second tuner for recording.

I thought a nice workaround would be to schedule recording of two encrypted channels at the same time at given time during the night, but I have a hard time defining that schedule.

Ideally I would like to specify as follow:

Each night record from 04:00 - 04:10 on channel 1 regardless of program.
Each night record from 04:00 - 04:10 on channel 2 regardless of program.

Both tuners will be forced to make a recording both channels are scheduled to record in parallel. Is it possible to define such a recording schedule? Can I ingest the necessary records directly into the TVserver base? I will manage to alter the MySQL database if I know the required info to add.

Maybe a even better solution would be to just open two graphs for each recorder and let them run for some minutes each night. That way there will not be any recordings to clean up either. Can this be scriptet using graphstudio?

Regards,
PK

    PK,

not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I just did the following starting from MePo -> TV to create a ManualSchedule

    1. select Scheduled -> New
    2. select AdvancedRecord, a Channel, Every Day at This Time, a Date, a StartTime, and 0.50 hours
    3. right click (I use a mouse) on the ManualRecording to open EpisodeManagement and select 1 Episode

this should record a 30 minute show every day on the channel at the starting time and only use 30 minutes of disk space. You'd need to do this for both channels. I don't know if there is a way to shrink the time to 10 minutes

You could also enable the DVB EPG grabber for both tuners. The periodic grabbing should keep the subscription up to date.

    Hi

    Thanks for the feedback.

@mm, I have already enabled DVB EPG grabbing on the second tuner only to force that tuner alive periodically, but that does not seem to be sufficient for keeping the keys up to date.

@RonD, Thanks for the tips. I haven't discovered the manual schedule option before , so this is new info to me. Keeping only on episode will prevent the hard drive from filling up with dummy recordings, so 30 mins of recording should not be a big problem. Maybe the duration can be altered in the database?

    Regards,
    PK
