I would dearly like MP to have the ability to do a specific task at a specific time, my prime reason is refreshing the 25000 tv programs and 130 channels at 3 am rather than when I want to see the tv guide. I'm sure this would have other applications too. Not suire about the architecture of MP but I suspect that this is not a plugin project.

i use PVR Scheduler for that purpose.
You should donate some money to the project to get access to it, but it's worth the money.
Wakes up my PC, twice a week and starts the grabbing. Does the export to xmltv and executes th MP TVGuideScheduler to do the import. After 20 minutes, that's sufficient in my case, to do all the stuff, the PC goes into standby.

Ok I think I have it sussed, Added a new scheduled task :- TVGuideScheduler.exe /FILE xmltv\tvguide.xml runs at 3:42 AM weds/sats 1 hour after update.bat which downloads the xmltv stuff. will see on saturday if it all works ok.
I still think a timed execution option within MP would be a good idea.
my HTPC suffers from imsomnia, the mobo is a bit picky about hibernation so it stays awake all the time.
