My ide is to automatic start Timeshift and pause live tv when I press the pause button in fullscreen TV
The reason for this is that it would be less HD use if Timeshift not continously is running and when for some reason I have to pause i dont need to go back to tv start-page and do several step with my remote control to first start Timeshift and then pause....
Sorry for my bad english but I hope you understand what I mean!

The only problem with this is instant replays.... if it's only recording when you hit pause, there would be no way for it to go back. What if there is a nipple slip from your favorite... FEMALE actor... or someone gets hurt on a show and you want to watch it over and over because it's just so damn funny. I think within a matter of days you would be turning time shift back on.

The idea is a good one, but with HD's being so cheap these days I don't really see space as a issue. If you have having an issue where the playback is jumpy, maybe you could solve it by gettting a better HD or more memory.

You definately have a point there! And I think that I will have timeshift activated most of the time even if this little feature is added.

However, channels swiching is much quicker w/o timeshift and there might be situations when i would choose to leave it of if it would be this easy to activate it. The "pause-feature" will not make ordinary timeshifting less good it will only add to the usability and ease of activating it.

Yeah, exactly. There are many reasons for watching TV without timeshift enabled, but if you need to pause it to answer the phone, etc, it is a pain to have to go back, start timeshifting, pause, by that time my call will probably have gone through to the answering machine anyway.

do what you want to do as long as we still have the possibility to use the "normal timeshift always on".

    thanks+regards

Of course. This would only be if timeshifting is off and pause is pressed, it is a more transparent mode of operation than how it works currently.

This is how Sky Digital handle it with the Sky+ PVR boxes and its works really well and is very intuitive.

They refer to it as Live Pause and Instant Rewind which are more easily understood by those who say 'huh?' when you mention timeshifting.

I really would like to see this in Media Portal. I have been using GBPvr for a while and this feature is in that program. And I have to admit that I use it ALOT! I am one of those who almost never use timeshifting because the channel changing takes far too long time. So I would like to see this in MP.

People who use timeshifting wont even know it`s there, but for the other of us it is a great feature.

My first post at this forum :D

    Yes nice work out there.
Well done. It seems to been available in the latest CVS already.

You may alredy tought about it but in case not.....
It would be better if it actually did pause the live tv after enabled the Timeshift with the "one" klick on the pause button.
    Just hit and run ;-)
