Hi
I think I understand how the TS Buffers work with TVE3, what I would like to know is whether its better to have many small files or fewer large files.
eg
Min = large, file size = small or
Min = small, file size = large
Im sure there is pros / cons of each, I'd be interested to know.
Thanks

Timeshift

Hi,
i use the default settings of timeshiftbuffer-size an -count.
I try to change the settings but theres no best practice for me.

The main bug is that the ts sometimes jump back or forward without any reason to do this
And i dont know how to fix it :(

cheers

I found out that whenever the Timeshift buffer became too big for one file and it created a second, I would get choppy playback on the clients.
First I thought it was due to the size of the buffer (ie the time it had been running, and not how many files there were), but when I changed the file size up and down, it would only get choppy after the creation of the second file, and getting worse with every other file created. If I set the buffer to max, 1000 mb, I could watch tv for approx. 15 min.

Since it doesn't seem to happen on the server, I think it may has something to do with my network, but I have no idea what the cause is or how to stop it.
If this is still happening in RC1 I'll try posting a real bug report.

Any ideas to as why it has problems? Otherwise my network setup works fine, and I can stream ripped DVD movies from the server without problems.

Other than this, I am quite happy with the change from Tvenginge2, to the TVserver.
