in my case the only Ramdisk that could use the unmanaged RAM was Superspeed. Gavotte wanted to use the already adressed 3GB (depends on hardware maybe). But Gavotte is free, so try that first. With 4 GB RAM and a dedicated Videocard (=no shared video RAM from system RAM) you could sacrifice RAM up to 2 GB for RAMDisk (and in case of XP even up to 3 GB, leaving 1 GB for the OS). I use Vista 32bit, 1,5 GB for RAMDisk, 256 MB for the shared videoRAM, rest for Vista. to get most out of RAMDisk: - put Timeshift folder onto RamDisk - put the Cache folder on RamDisk - put the Skins folder on RamDisk - put the Database folder on Ramdisk - put the Thumbs folder on RamDisk - dont forget to edit the mediaportal_folders.xml file with the new path (or called something similar, in MP Root folder) and load the RamDisk Image after every Reboot from backup on harddrive!!!!!! leave the old folders in place also and backup the ...folders.xml file too in case of trouble. - if you use moving pictures plugin, edit the paths in config/advanced But this is off topic here, not much to do with timeshifting on a flash drive. I suggest these topics (in German, sorry): https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/tipps-tricks-tutorials-176/erfahrungen-mit-ramdisk-und-mp-71264/ https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/hardware-174/pagefile-ramdisk-vista-x64-mp-optimierung-67790/
