As doveman has stated, the advantage of a Ramdisk is that is saves wear on your HDD. Also, when recording and watching another channel it reduces the HDD i/o stuff potentially making both operations more reliable... I run an 8GB Ramdisk for this very reason plus when not recording the HDD is spun down so its quieter
