I find that if I have timeshifting on, and I watch a channel for a while then change channel it takes forever to start watching the new channel. I assume this is the buffering been deleted. Is there anyway this can be speeded up? The problem doesn't occur if I I'm flicking through the channels, I assume this is because the buffer is then much smaller.

    Hello drum,

I don't know what could be causing your problem but the buffer isn't deleted when you change channels. If you watch program A for an hour and then switch to program B you are still able to jump back to the buffered time of program A. Just doing some explanation here... I don't think anyone could help you further since you haven't provided system specs and / or logs at all.

If you are using TVE2, the buffer is deleted when changing channels, but not whith TVE3 (TV-Server).

You dont say anything about how long time it takes, but assuming TVE2, buffersize could affect the time it takes to change channels depending on its size, free diskspace, diskspeed, fragmentation, antivirus...

My experience is that even with relative much free space (in my case 80% free on a 100 GB disk) the disk gets hevily fragmented i just a short time.
