Hey guys,

I just had to do the following to get RC4 server to work with a multiseat client on another machine working. I didn't do this originally because the mediaportal install gave me the impression that it was going to open up the vista firewall for mediaportal to work for me. This is not actually the case (only half true), as it forgets about the sql server instance that it installed for me.

1. First enable tcpip and named pipes connections using the surface area configuration tool as per the sql server configuration page in the wiki
2. Add the sql server process to the firewall exceptions
3. Add the sqlbrowse.exe tool to the firewall exceptions (in sql\90\shared\ folder)
4. Add a machine name mapping to the ip address of the tvserver on the tv client machine
5. Set the tvserver to be the machine name, not the ip address in media portal configuration on the client machine.

All this being done, I still had to wait a long time for the client to start up on an xp machine. But once it started up tv worked a treat.

Hope this post helps other people trying to get this to work.
