    Hi!

EDIT: Found a BUG ... I'll take a look at the error at the weekend ... so please don't use it for now !!!

Here is a little tool, that is looking for the status of TV Service (TVServer.exe). You only have to set the path of the exe and the time interval in seconds. If not started, the tool starts the TVServer (f.e.).

It is also possible, to take a look on each other running app with a copy (renaming it) of these tool.

... the WAF increase up too the moon

No: "Darling ... I only touch the remote ... and the TV says TV Service is not started" ;)

Test it, you'll find the exe in the attached rar

Nice idea, but does'nt the Services recovery options also do this, yes I know these are not set automatically on MP install, but this is now being added to restart the service if it stops.

These are my own settings, and never seen the pc restart because of this, just setup the recovery as a precaution :)

    Restart options are sometimes useless

sometimes the service seems to be running but the clients wont get a stream ...

so there should be a possible way to see if the service is really serving streams...

    is this possible?

    regards robertino

    Hi paranoid delusion!

but doesn't the Services recovery options also do this,

Yes of course they should do this ... but for me these settings never worked (same settings like yours) Once the service is down ... I had to start it manually.

Maybe there are other setting missing, which I didn't noticed?

    Hi robertino!

It is possible, but we need to know more about your system ...

Plz be so kind and tell us some information about your system: OS, MP Version, single or Multi seat setup, TV cards etc. (You can see an example in my signature)

take a look at your user CP. There you can set these informations.

nice, i'll test it, thx. i often have problems with the services. tvservice and fortherecord one of them is always not really running, so get up from the sofa and end/start it manually just to realize that tvservice won't quit and restart again and i have to restart the whole pc to get it running again. i just don't know what causes these not correct running (or even not started) services but a tool which checks for them sounds good. this one integrated in mp would be very nice...

I created a batch file to do just this quite some time ago (it also helps when/if the TV Server crashes but is still 'running'). On my harmony remote I created a button named 'Restart TVE3', once executed a command window pops up and the service stops/starts.

Attached in case anyone may find it useful.

    Hi Evis!

Your batch once stops (if running) the service and starts it again.

This exe is automatic looking for the status of the tvservice and only starts the service if it is not running.

You can set the interval and it's running the whole time in the background.

But it can't tell whether the service has crashed (but still running), or can it?

    HI Evis!

    No, it can't.
Both ways are neccesary. I try to combine both ways ... but it's not easy ... ;)

That would be very good :). So people can still have a button on their remote to manually restart the TV Server, and a background option for it to restart by itself if it does stop running :).
