Guys I have been struggling for the last two months trying to edit my overly large HD TS. files in MediaPortal down to a reasonable size and in a simple ad easy manner. I have tried everything that was in these forums but to no avail. None of the TS conversion packages work for me and I couldn't be bothered searching through every single post to work it out.
So I thought I share a simple easy process I just discovered to convert these files - for free with excellent results. .
I am using two programs
1. Quick Media Converter (to convert the file to AVI.
2. AVIDEMUX - (to edit out the commercials)
Quick Media Converter
Step 1. 1st I download QuickMediaConverter from here -> http://www.cocoonsoftware.com/download/Install-Hd-4-0-0-8.zip
Step 2. Once installed I go to EXPERT MODE and "ADD FILES TO CONVERT"
Step 3. Then I select "Load Profiles" and choose the a profile of my liking (for me XVID, AC3)
Step 4. Then I hit "START CONVERSION" - (took me about 15 mins per Hour of video)
AVIDEMUX
Step 5. Download AVIDEMUX from here --> Download avidemux from SourceForge.net
Step 6. Once installed open up a file. Use your "MARKERS" (A & B and "Cut from edit menu") to edit out the commercials (NO NEED TO CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTINGS)
Then when your happy (As I am right now)
Step 7. Go to File --> "ADD to JOBLIST"
then ---> File --> VIEW JOBLIST
Step 8. Click "RUN ALL JOBS" and Bob's your uncle
All software is free and open source.
Would love to see this simple process integrated into Mediaportal.
