tuner appears to be in use (1 Viewer)

I am on day 3 of trying to setup media portal. The portal works occasionally but then stops working. It seems to consider the cards in use even though they don't appear to be in use and the manual control page says both cards are idle. If I run the test diagnostics it alternates between test and ignore.

I have attached the logs.

I have tried
- setting the scanning for the cards to both generic and atsc
- deleting and reading all of the channels a couple of times
- installing a patch for upnp and card detection
- rebooting which usually helps for a while

Thanks for your help

    Hello again John

I take it you saw my reply/suggestion in your other thread?
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...y-tv-and-channel-preview.128439/#post-1110664

It looks like you've picked up on a few things, but missed others...

The portal works occasionally but then stops working.
Your log files are really long - like more than 100000 lines long. With such huge logs, it is absolutely essential to have an example of a specific date/time when MediaPortal has stopped working. Same as I said in the other thread: we really need dates/times, channel names etc.

It seems to consider the cards in use even though they don't appear to be in use and the manual control page says both cards are idle.
If the manual control page says the tuners are idle then where are you seeing TV Server tell you that they're in use?

    - setting the scanning for the cards to both generic and atsc
That will make zero difference for a CableCARD tuner.

    - deleting and reading all of the channels a couple of times
Probably makes zero difference. However, I hope you figured out that you need to increase the default SDT/VCT timeout setting before scanning?

    - installing a patch for upnp and card detection
    Good, that may help.

One thing I see in your logs straight away is that TV Server is only configured to use one of your tuners:

    [2014-11-17 23:05:38,314] [Log ] [scheduler thread] [INFO ] - Controller: card:3 type:Atsc can tune to channel
    [2014-11-17 23:05:38,316] [Log ] [scheduler thread] [INFO ] - Controller: card:4 type:Atsc channel not mapped
    [2014-11-17 23:05:38,316] [Log ] [scheduler thread] [INFO ] - Controller: card:5 type:Atsc is disabled
    [2014-11-17 23:05:38,316] [Log ] [scheduler thread] [INFO ] - Controller: card:6 type:Atsc is disabled

I assume you've disabled tuners 3 and 4 because you're using them in WMC or some other software. However, the "channel not mapped" suggests you haven't followed the "Channel Configuration" instructions here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/cablecard-tuner-support-for-mediaportal-1.112585/

If you've intending for TV Server to share tuners with other software then that could easily explain the "in use" issue. WMC is most likely to use tuners 1 and 2... which TV Server is also configured to try to use.

Another thing that isn't helping is that TV Server is trying to record while you're trying to test:
[2014-11-17 22:54:28,450] [Log ] [scheduler thread] [INFO ] - Scheduler: Time to record OuterMax HD 10:54 PM-12:00 AM Before Sunset

Given what I've already told you about TV Server only being able to use one of your tuners, this really isn't going to work out well for you.

Hope that helps at least a little...

    Regards,
    mm
