tuner card newbie (1 Viewer)

hello. my htpc is up and running with mediaportal and now I want to add a tuner card. now, I have no idea if it will work with my cable tv provider (TVA, Brazil).

how can I check that before I even research on which tuner card I should buy?

Sadly we have very little knowledge of the system in Brazil, its some sort of dvb-t that does not match the rest of the world, link to last post regarding this and as you can see, no feedback as working..
