Good day!

I am planning to build a TvServer machine. This machine should have 4-6 tuners. I have noted two things:

1. Most new hardware contains very few PCI slots (if any) and several PCI express (PCIe) slots.

2. There are very few analog TV tuner cards that are PCI express compatible.

I have few questions about tuner card:

a. One of the cards that looks nice is Vista View Saber 2020 card (http://www.vistaview.tv/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6&Itemid=33). This card is not on the current MediaPortal list. Did any one try to use it?

b. The card comes with "BDA" driver. Does MediaPortal use these drivers. If so, would it be expected that this card is actually supported?

Thanks
Yuval

No, it doesn't work. Check the GBPVR forums, they were able to get it working under there. Doesn't really work for me though, so I'm hoping MediaPortal includes support soon. That being said, if anyone knows how to translate card definitions from GBPVR to MediaPortal that would be very cool ;)

I would love to get this card to work, the only problem I see is that they may have to add 2 different versions (one with the old firmware, and one with the new firmware.)

Hopefully someone will be nice enough to make this happen!!!

That's right there are two version, I had forgotten. When I purchased it I had immediately done the firmware upgrade to fix some the quality issues. That would probably explain why it doesn't work on GBPVR anymore. My GraphEdit appears to show the same pin configuration as what they are using, but I'm sure there is more to it than that. That being said, if there is anyone here who would be willing to write the configuration for the card with new firmware, I would be more than willing to provide GraphEdit info or whatever else you may need.

I have searched the MP CaptureCardDefinitons.xml file, and found no reference to any card named "Vista View Saber 2020". If it is not listed in this file, MP will be unable to find the card.

Luckly, I have found that it is somewhat easy to add a card to this file. Since you have already used GraphEdit, you have started the process.

If you have not already done so, please read the following:
Getting your H/W TVCard to be supported
Getting your Software Encoding Card to be supported
Add TVCard to natively supported list

Also, more information on the card type is needed.
Is it analog or digital?
What version of Media Portal are you using?
What is your operating system?
Better yet, follow the instructions on this thread on how to properly ask for help:
How to start a support thread
You need to fill in the system specs in your user profile. (both of you)

Since there is no existing entry for your card, if you know of a card that uses the same drivers, we can use that as a starting point.

I've given you a lot to go over, because if you are not willing to help yourself, no one in this forum will be willing to help you.

Now roll up your sleeves and get to work. :)
I'll help you if you get stuck.

If someone gets the card to work (all I care about is the tuners and the card using the hardware encoder instead of software encoders) please post the CaptureCardDefinitons.xml definition here so that it can be added on the next release, but until then users can manually add the card.

Thanks

If you plan on using the new TV Server engine, then it doesn't rely on the CCD xml file. Basically, if it's BDA and Windows can see it, then it should work in MP TVS3.

If the people in GBPVR are having issues though, this card may be the exception...

Per the post by Paul, I followed the post by Frodo and created a GraphEdit screen capture and emailed it along with the list of monikers for the Saber 2020. I haven't heard anything back though.

I looked at the CaptureCardDefinitons.xml file and read the bit about modifying it, but I really can't make heads or tails of it.

If anybody can help me create the XML for this card, I would be most appreciative.

    Thanks,
    Tread

Give dman some time to reply.

In the mean time, maybe I can help you come up with something. Here's what I need from you:

    1) A screenshot of the working graph. You can re-arrange the filters so that they all fit on the screen. Make sure all of the pins are connected and you can "play" the graph.

    2) The device ID (devid) of the capture filter. This is the moniker that is decribed in the instructions..

More information on the card may help. If you know the make of the tuner and if any other cards by this manufaturer use the same tuner ( and maybe are already supported by MP).

If I think of some more things I need I'll ask for it (its 5:00 AM here -"Yawn"). But this will get us started.
