great, thats exactly what i need :)

but, i do have a 6200 hdtv card with the nvidia pure video decoder.

i thought the only cards purevideo didn't work on was some 6800gt/ultra lines?

isn't 6200 ok? i hope so cause i bought it for the media center.

i'm not sure what exactly the format is and resolution and datarate for captured hdtv. maybe if someone has a link to an hdtv video file, i could download it and try playing it to see if mines fast enough?

thanks again guys!

----addition

i found the chart for gpus

looks like the 6200 agp only supports this hd function: H.264 Decode Acceleration what is this?

it doesn't do the mpeg2 or the other functions.

well i can play 720p just fine, but 1080i i can't, and on dvd regular i get 35% cpu usage, and mpeg2-hd is skippy.

i have the nvidia pure video decoder, but i'm having doubts its working.

i have an athlon xp2100+.

i did microsoft check, to make sure the nvidia decoder was checked, and that it was the primary decoder. but whenever i play a dvd or mpeg2 video i don't see the icon popup for the settings on the nvidia pure video decoder. that and the 35% cpu usage makes me wonder if its even working right. i have the latest drivers for my card as well.

anyone know much about the purevideo encoder?

The 6200 AGP doesnt support mpeg2-HD - thats why the playback is skipping.

    http://www.nvidia.com/page/purevideo_support.html

As for the 35% CPU usage, thats approximately what I get when playing back a DVD or recorded television with de-interlacing enabled, and im currently not using the Purevideo codec. just ffdshow which uses, for the most part, the libavcodec.

You could always try graphedit and try building the graph manually or simply loading a clip you want to test and make sure the purevideo codec is actually being graphed.

yah i read on teh chart the 6200 doesn' support it, the files i was trying to play was both the mpeg2, and the wmvhd, wmvhd it should have support for.

i submitted a post to nvidia technical support, but so far i i have only rrecieved a generic response
