Hi

I am new to MP, so not too sure what I need to install for HD channels. I have a Hauppauge Nova HD S2 and want to get HD channels.

Do I need to install TVengine3 or is it already part of MP?

Also is there a decent step by step guide for installing webEPG?

Thanks

Graham

Hi Graham and welcome

You will need to install MediaPortal and then TVengine3 (and the client plugin that comes with it) to use DVB-S2.

WebEPG installs as part of the MediaPortal installation. You will find it in the C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal folder if you install to the default path.

Run WebEPG-conf.exe to configure the grabber.

1. In the New Channel Box enter the channel name as it appears in the TV Server Configuration. Press the Add button.

2. Highlight the row in the main window you have just added and click th ... button next to the Channel box on the right.

3. This brings up the Selection box. List by either Channels or Website. For the UK I would suggest by Website, expand GB and expand 1-xmltv.radiotimes.com. Highlight the channel that matches the one you just added and hit the Select button. This adds the details in the main window.

4. I would put the Grab Days to the maximum (14). You can save when you wish to update the configuration file.

5. Close WebEPG Config when finished.

6. Run WebEPG.exe to grab the EPG listings. This will produce an XMLTV file in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV. You also need to ensure this folder has an xmltv.dtd file in it. If you installed on XP it should already be there. On Vista you may need to copy it from C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV

7. Set up the XMLTV plugin in TV Engine 3 as per wiki http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/XmlTv
The plugin is now a little different. Ensure the "Import files in new tvguide.lst" is not ticked. Load/Refresh the channels in the Mappings tab and hit the Save button.

8. All being well, after about a minute or 2 the Import Status on the Settings tab should show it was successful.

I hope this helps

Thanks Mew

I did all this and it seems to nearly working. I eventually got BBCHD working by turning off hardware acceleration within the PowerDVD7 codec otherwise it just crashed MP completely. I am currently using onboard graphics on my gigabyte GA-G33-S2H board, but have just bought a radeon 2400XT HD card to go in as i'm aware onboard graphics are a bit lame.

For soem reason if i try to get bbc3 or bbc4 I get an error message titled MY PROGRAMS, saying

"MY Programs"
"MY Programs"

then it just goes back to the previous channel.....very weird

any ideas from anyone would be good.

Thanks

Graham

The only thing I can think of is to make sure that you scan while the channel is actually broadcasting.

Remember that BBC3 and BBC4 on Freeview share bandwidth with CBBC and CBeebies.
While there is plenty of bandwidth on satellite there still seems to be some element of sharing. I believe when I was using satellite, after CBeebies stopped broadcasting, the same channel (set as CBeebies) was showing BBC4. This means that if you scan before 7:00pm you may not pick up these channel parameters correctly. Likewise, if you scan after 7:00pm, and want CBBC and CBeebies, you will have to rescan during the day.

I had issues with these channels and once I had scanned once during the day and once again at night it was OK.
