TV Guide - No Data Available (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

I'm new to MediaPortal and am very impressed by its UI compared to the horrible clunky WinTV 6 software which came with my Hauppauge HVR 1100 card.

However, despite installing all the Freeview channels available to me (UK - South), when I click TV Guide all I get is "no data available".

I have gone through various configuration settings but I must be missing something obvious. All the channels are operating OK, I just cannot get any EPG info.

Please can someone direct me to how to get this working.

Thanks in advance.

This morning when I turned on MediaPortal I have suddenly got some EPG data, but not for all channels. Most notably, where I live in the UK, there is no data for BBC1 but there is data for the other BBC digital channels.

If you select to get EPG data over-the-air, then it does it on a per frequency basis. Thats why you get only a few channels.

I live in the UK and I use TV3 and download xml from the Radio Times using xmltv. That way I get weeks in advance, and for all channels.

Check out the xmltv section of the forum for more info.

The RadioTimes xmltv download fails a lot, so I suggest you use a cache, I have a script like this to download the data successfully:

REM Program to update XMLTV Listings and copy to appropriate location

    D:\
    C:\

    CD "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV"
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml

    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml
    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\xmltv.exe" tv_grab_uk_rt --cache temp.cache > temp\tvguide.xml

    DEL /Q temp.cache

    move /Y "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\temp\tvguide.xml" "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV\tvguide.xml"

Or use WebEPG, in the mediaportal installation folder

Needs to be configured once and the plugin enabled to autorun it, to get tvguide for 14 days.

Thanks guys for your feedback on this.

Sorry, I am probably being a bit dense but how to I "use TV3 and download xml from the Radio Times using xmltv" or "use WebEPG, in the mediaportal installation folder. Needs to be configured once and the plugin enabled to autorun it, to get tvguide for 14 days."?

With regard to WebEPG, I found it in the Plugins section of the configuration tool and double-clicked it to mark it. But what do I need to do now? You said it autoruns so does that mean the EPG data I now have is from there? I still have data missing and I have nothing beyond 7 days.

Sorry, as I say, I am probably missing the ******** obvious, but as a newbie I am still finding my way around.

I have done all that is in the guide

    Hi

I have almost the same problem

I have done all that the guide say that i have to do to get the EPG in Mediaportal via WebEPG to work.

I do get all data into the tvguide.xml for all the channels that i have listed with the tool WebEPG-conf.exe.

Now to the problem when i go in to the Mediaportal Server configuration tool i can see that it says that 73 channels & over 32000 programs where imported but when i start Mediaportal and press EPG i can only see a fraction of all that should be there.

I'm i doing somthing wrong here. Becase if i try to import the EPG data from tvguide.xml into DVBviewer all works well and i can se all programs for all channels.

PLEASE help me! I'm trying to start using Mediaportal insted of DVBviewer now that the subtitles works fine.

    Best regards
    Karill

    Hi all,

I've configured the EPG per the guide for UK channels, and when I run the WebEPG.exe I see it as a task but no files are written to the xmltv folder. I even removed channels with no mapping in the WebEPG_conf.exe but still no luck. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Any help will be most appreciated :)

    Ian

PS I forgot to mention that I couldn't find the section in MediaPortal configuration to set the folder for the XML file to be grabbed, is it the xmltv by default?
