TV out on second monitor? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I would like to add HTPC capabilities to my existing PC. I have a 6600GT gfx card. I'd like to use the PC for general use/gaming, but also use it (not necessarily at the same time) for HT.

Is it possible to run Media Portal on the PC, using the second monitor output to a standard PAL TV?

Basically, is it possible to run my primary display (LCD) at 1280x1024 and the second display at 720x576 using TV-out, all on the 6600GT? Or do I need an extra gfx card with tv-out for the second display... for example a PCI 6200?

Any help would be appreciated :D

Thanks,
Regards,
Greg

After some searching of the forums, I see that I can run MP on the secondary monitor, but it won't have hardware DX support, so it will perform badly.

With another card, say PCI 0200, I can have hardware support on the second monitor.

Is this correct?

My suggestion is to clone displays. Turn off "MP Fullscreen" and "MP always on top" in MP config.
Switch displays to clone and auto maximise overlay screens on the TV display.

The only downside with this is that you can't play games at the same time as watch MP. You can watch MP fullscreen on the TV and use the computer for net browsing, etc.
