Using a DVI->HDMI connection from the video card to a Panasonic AE700 projector.

Synopsis:
The TV output quality seems to be lower/worse than what my bog standard VCR can ouput - the output from MP isn't as sharp. I tried gbpvr and when configuring it I was able to edit the nvidia purevideo settings - an option I can't find in MP - and when watching TV through that (gbpvr) I get the quality I expect. I would of course much rather use MP as for everything else I think it does things much better - can anyone help? The only place I can see to change which codec to use is through the GUI Settings->TV settings...but I can't see where I might be able to get at the purevideo quality settings window that I can get to so easily in gbpvr.

Or is the blurriness of My TV related to something else? Any other video is fine.

Help! :)

There are a few ways to adjust the settings in PureVideo.
  • Throug MP configuration. Almost on the bottom of the tree on the left, there is an option for "codec settings" or something like that (I'm at work so I can't check what it's called). There you can access the basic settings.
  • While playing video. If you play a video file using the PureVideo codec, an icon will show in the system tray. Double click that and you'll get access to PureVideo's settings interface. This is hard to do while using MP in fullscreen, always on top, hide taskbar etc. You might want to close MP completely and launch windows media player just to access the settings.
  • Through a filter manager. Using something like the Radlight Filter Manager you can access the settings for any DirectShow filters. What you get is the same configuration interface as in the previous point.

To tweak the tv picture on your PVR150, you can use the Hauppauge tweak tool.

Good luck!

Also make sure the quality settings for your Hauppage is set correctly from inside MP Config.

Thanks guys - I'm now at work so won't be able to try these until tonight, but I'll check/install/try everything you've suggested :)
