If I remember the sequence of events correctly, I disconnect my PC from the router and plugged in another router which I wanted to configure. I then minimised MP to the tray using Close. Shortly after, MP crashed. Several hours later I restarted MP and when trying to tune in to TV, it said "No Free Card". I then loaded TV Server config and tried to manually tune, but it said "No card mapped". I then tried to stop the TV Service, which also failed and it still says "Stopping". I then tried to load TVServer config, but that failed and threw up lots of scary errors as well.

I can see quite a few errors at the end of Mediaportal.bak, which seem to relate to trying to connect to the web, but I wouldn't have thought loss of connection should cause MP to throw a wobbly like this.

Going to reboot now and hopefully things will be sorted.

It is not the loss of connection that caused the issue but rather the fact that the server was connected to a different router and DHCP kicked in and assigned a new IP address. Neither TVServer nor MP/TVPlugin can survive an IP address change while running.

Fair enough. Seems like a fairly unlikely thing to happen anyway, just wanted to bring it to your attention in case there was some underlying bug that needed looking at.

    Thanks, that looks handy.

Actually, thinking about it if someone's using Wireless then surely there's the risk that they lose connection and when they get it back, they're assigned a different IP address, causing MP to crash.

In which case, if this bug isn't going to be fixed, should users be warned to assign a fixed IP address to their PC's when using wireless?

Come to think of it arion_p, I use a fixed IP address on my MP PC even though it's wired to my router, so how could DHCP have kicked in and changed the PC's IP address? Maybe I'm showing my ignorance of routers/networking here :)

I just assumed you had dynamic IP, there is no way to know (not from the logs), in which case changing routers would definitely change the IP and it is certain that TV serve would not behave correctly.

But if you are using static IPs, we have to investigate further.

If this is going to be investigated further, could the status be changed from [will not fix] please?

I have seen this happen a few times. I use a static IP and i've seen tvservice crash the instant the LAN is disconnected (rather than when re-connected)

I'll try and replicate it when i've got some time. It could possibly be a page fault in StreamingServer when the socket is forced to close.
