New-ish to MP, still in the tweaking-it-until-everyone's-happy-for-me-to-replace-the-dumb-TV-with-it phase. (Great project - just made a donation.) Have found solutions for most things but not this one yet. Running MP1 in single-seat mode on a reasonable HTPC (Asrock Ion 330) and Win7, when resuming from sleep with MP trying to go back to TV mode (pulling signal from a DVB-T USB device), quite often it ends up on a screen saying it's unable to contact the TV server, with options to edit the saved IP etc. Just doing a null-edit (confirming the existing details) makes it try to contact again, and then it's fine ... but not everyone's happy with that :) ... I guess the Windows service just doesn't start up quick enough to beat MP to it. Any ideas (or any MP config options) that could help me ensure the service is always ready in time for MP?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    Hello and welcome Kevin :)

Your guess about the cause of the problem may or may not be correct. If you would like helpful and accurate suggestions, it would be a good idea to post log files so that the cause of the problem can be confirmed.

Start the MediaPortal Watchdog tool (link on your desktop or in your start menu).
    Select option 2.
Click proceed. MP should now start up.
Go into the TV section and start viewing any channel.
Wait for 30 seconds or so.
    Put the PC to sleep.
    Wait a minute or two.
    Wake the PC.
Hopefully the problem shows itself at this point.
Confirm the IP address to fix it as described.
View any channel for 30 seconds or so.
    Close MediaPortal.
Post/attach ("upload a file") the zip file produced by the Watchdog tool.

    Regards,
    mm

Thanks for pointing me towards Watchdog. I went through those repro steps (and the problem did occur), and I'm attaching the zip file here. I had a look at the contents to see if there was anything that stood out, but I expect you kind of need to know what you're looking for ... so many thanks in advance for any feedback on what's in them, and whether that suggests any particular solution ...

    Best regards

    Kevin
