Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with the a TVService.exe fault that I cannot reproduce at will, unfortunately. I don't know what conditions are causing it. But it happened again today, so I thought I'd post my logs and try to supplement those additional details about the most recent occurrence.

Windows Vista's Event Viewer notes that at 7:27:50pm on 5/23/2010, there was an error in TVService.exe. I'm also attaching the text of this report, exported from Event Viewer; maybe this can help you pinpoint the issue in the MP logs.

I noticed that something was wrong around that time, when I tried to watch a recorded TV program. The video played fine, but MP responded very slowly to remote control commands. It would take a few seconds for any command (pause, FF, etc.) to register. I stopped playback and resumed playback, but the issue persisted. I was able to finish watching the recording, but after I stopped it, MP displayed a message saying that the connection to the TV Server was lost.

I should note that I have a dual-ATSC-tuner card (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250), and a recording that began around 7pm was in progress at the time of the TVService.exe fault.

I'm not sure how helpful this is to you, but if there's some way I can help you better diagnose the problem, please let me know.

Thanks for all the work you do on MP.

This has also happend to me, I know that this is not much help, but I just want to say that Deel is not alone about this problem. I dont know why it happens, but I recognize the error from event viewer. I will try to collect logs next time it happens for me. There is a difference between my setup and Deels, I have Windows 7.

Your TVServer crash looks unrelated to other reports and looks to be on C++ side of things. This would point towards the card or ATSC issues.

Bit of a pain but are you able to replicate this crash?

If so have a look at
    Debugging/MemoryDump - MediaPortal Manual Documentation
not nice but unlikely we can replicate the issue (all the devs are in Europe so no-one has any ATSC devices)

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to determine what conditions cause the crash, so I can't replicate it. I understand that this (along with the possible ATSC connection) makes it difficult for you to diagnose the issue.

I'll try to analyze the circumstances surrounding each crash from now on and see if I can identify any patterns that will help me reproduce it. If I find something, I'll post back.

    Thanks again for your help.

Sorry for the delay in replying ... Yes, I do have both installed. Perhaps that's causing a conflict? Would you recommend that I uninstall mySQL?
