Hi,

I have been trying to get TV Server to work in VMware Workstation 6.2.
The install works fine but when I come to scan for TV Channels nothing happens. It just sits there scanning but not progressing. I tried this on fresh installs of XPSp2, XPSP3 and VistaSP1 with all updates applied. I chose the TV Server RC1 release. I am using a hauppauge WinTV Nova USB TD Stick (DVB-T) and the virtual machines have no problem accessing the USB hardware within the guest and drivers install as normal on a physical host. Nothing in the logs :(

Has anyone managed to get TV Server working inside a Virtual machine, VMWare or otherwise???

I was thinking about doing this myself, but will you get DX9 support on a virtualized gfx-card?

I have just downloaded VMWare 6.5 beta which now supported DX9 in virtual guests. Will try it out tonight and report back.

i tried tv server in a vmware machine with a Terratec Cinergy XS

    worked quite well

btw: dx9 is only needed for displaying the tv, streaming do not need it

I couldn't get it to scan channels with the RC1 refresh :( I have actually started testing mythtv (mythbuntu) at the minute and that works fine through a VM.

No unfortunately I didn't get it to work in VMware. Infact I moved over to MythBunu as I had so many problems with MediaPortal being so unstable, even now I am still not satisfied.

Now I have bought a PS3 which will give me Blueray, upscaling DVD, AVI, WMV,MP3 etc, a nice interface and easy to use (plus good games) . I will be purchasing PlayTV for PS3 to provide live TV and PVR, I am also deciding on a HDMI switch to purchase with CAT5/6 extenders to provide all my HD displays in the house to access the PS3 via HDMI and 1080P. Then I hope to have found the solution I have been searching for the past year
