Hello,
Funny and depressing how addictive TV server is. While Mediaportal as such works great, getting it to work in a TVserver single-seat configuration has turned into a time and money-intensive labour.
My setup is simple, a very basic Dual Core CPU based computer, with a FloppyDTV DVB-C card. All Mediaportal and TV server builds that I have tested have shown the same behaviour: Unscrambled channels work perfectly, as does the first scrambled channel to be selected after a clean install. After that, there is no way to view the scrambled channels anymore. When tuning onto one, I get the "no video/audio" error, or "unable to timeshift, the channel is scrambled". The same of course is true in the TVserver configuration, manual control tab, impossible to start timeshifting the scrambled channels there either.
With DVBviewer or FireDTV, I see all channels I am subscribing to, scrambled or not, even VoomHD plays fine.
I posted a support request, and my logs show that the .ts files are locked to 0 bytes. I tried selecting different folders for the timeshifting files, tried both XP and Vista, tried various motherboards, graphic cards, the only stable component has been the FloppyDTV card.
I read tens or hundreds of posts about TsWriter.ax issues, XP hotfixes, etc... nothing helped. So here is my question:
Is anyone in my area (Kuopio, Finland) successfully using Mediaportal/TVserver in a single or multiseat configuration with a DVB-C FloppyDTV card, or any other DVB-C tuner ? This sounds like a desperate call, and it probably is. I hate DVBviewer for its "OSD", but at least it works with DVB subs and HD channels.
Thanks a lot in advance
Lorenzo
