Cheers for that Robbo. Just installed and tested it today and it works really well! Love the fact that it also works with the MCE remote so no keyboard required. You learn something new every day, eh?

On another note, what I mentioned earlier about BBC iPlayer no longer working from within OnlineVideos - well today it's working again.

Sorry, by distributor I was talking about the company that broadcasts TV-channels cable/satelite/Aerial companies. There is probably a better name for it. Don't know of any examples in the UK, but in the US it's companies like Dish Network. From this thread is seems Freeview is one such company in the UK, correct?

Atleast here in Norway not all of these companies are too friendly towards HTPC users, with pairing of the card and tuner. Or atleast it used to. But having TVs with DVB-S/DVB-C tuners built into them might have fixed this problem.

Just make sure that you pick a "distributor" that is HTPC-friendly.

The only thing that would make NMTV perfect is the ability to jump forward / backwards with the remote, which is not possible. Other than that it completely does the job.

As it is free to air (although you need a TV license to view it legally) they don't care and cannot restrict what hardware you use to view it. The other two TV services in the UK, Sky (satellite) and Virgin Media (cable) do restrict the hardware you use and neither of them allow HTPC use.

Instead of "distributor", broadcaster would be a better word

There is a third - FreeSat (the equivilant of FreeView but via satellite rather than an aerial), which does allow HTPC use.

Yeah that's true, but I tend to think of Freeview and Freesat as being essentially the same thing. I know there are differences, but it's the same consortium of broadcasters as far as I know.
