Hi,
recently, I've installed ForTheRecord (1.4.0.1) and as I can not use PowerScheduler any more, I had to examine, why windows won't put my system into standby mode automatically, if everything is idle.
I found out that TV server (or at least the way it uses my DVB-C card) is the one, that prevents windows' idle detection. My DVB-C card is a twinhan based card with a CI slot and I am using a CAM (Alphacrypt). Looking at the source of TvEngine3, I found out, that on twinhan cards BDA DirectShow graphs are never stopped, if a CAM is in use (ConditionalAccess.cs, line 332). The device driver of my DVB-C card seems to set something like SetThreadExecutionState(ES_CONTINUOUS | ES_SYSTEM_REQUIRED), while it is in use. So windows would never go to standby, as soon, as TV Server has started BDA graphs for the first time.
The reason for not stopping the graphs from the comments of TvEngine3 is, that some devices have a very long startup time. As I welcome a fast user experience when directly sitting in front of MediaPortal, I also would like to have automatic standby working properly, if my system is idle. Due to ForTheRecord, I'm stuck to window's built-in mechanisms
Personally, I rarely use live TV. Therefore I would sacrifice fast user experience for working standby. But as I'am not the only one using MediaPortal out there, I'm sure, there are many people who like it the other way round.
Would it be possible to add a configuration option (e.g. to the TV card settings dialog), which allows a full release of the BDA graphs? (At the moment, only twinhan based cards seem to be affected).
