These recent releases are almost the worst in the History of the TVserver.

Also a monumental memory leak on the tvservice of nearly 2gig.

Hi all,

My apologies if this is not the correct place for this post, but I am a relatively new user andcouldn´t find forum on TV Engine 3.

I´ve installed TVEngine3 and MediaPortal Client Plugin and MySQL5, all without any problems. My problem begins on the TV Server database confguration step. I enter the configuration program and input the SQL Server details, ServiceName, Hostname, user and password. But I am told when I test the connection hat Host 'SALA' is not allowed to connect to the database. The instance was configured during the MYSQL install step as per the wiki instrutions.

I´have been playing about a bit and I´ve realised it is due to the fact that, as my machine connects to the internet via WiFi, the Network card, as it has no cable plugged in, is not being assigned and IP address. If I use the GUI tools provided with MYSQL to connect to the instance using servername 'localhost' there is no problem and I see that the server IP is 127.0.0.1. However, when I input localhost or 127.0.0.1 as the Host in the TVServer configuration, the 'TEST' of the connection works fine, but when I try to save I am told that I cannot use either of these values as Host.

Any ideas?

make sure to post full logs and system specs, since you never know what might be helpful (even though the cause of the problem seems pretty clear).

I'm guessing SALA is the name of your PC and it can't connect because some internal check won't allow 127.0.0.1?
Surely your wifi connection has an IP address? can you run ipconfig /all in a command window and see what IP's your pc has?

About says it all - Without the plugins working latest SVN's are completely unusable (& untestable) for me.

Sure it will come right in the end but for now I will stick with SVN 16617

Hi all

Regarding the above post, I have found the transaction which needed to be executed in MySQL to allow the host to connect to the Database Instance, in case anyone else is having the same problem

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON [dbname].* to
'[user]'@'[hostname]' identified by
'[password]'

After granting priileges, the TV Server Config was able to create the database. However, under the TVServers menu, no TV Server or cards were listed, for unknown reasons. I then proceeded to insert into the TVServer table one record manually with the following details

ID=1
IsMaster=0
Hostname='host'

After inserting this row the Host and the DVB-T cards were present in the TVservers list of the TV Server Config screen. Not sure if it was something I didn´t do or some error during the creation of the Database. I´m pretty sure I followed the install and configuration documents to the letter, except the manual steps I had to undertake. The channels were tuned via the TV-Server configuration program without any problems.

Also, on entering MyTV, the config docs indicate that there should appear a setup screen to indicate to the TV Client the TV Server details. This never appeared although the channels all appeared in the TV guide, and at the beginning could be seen. However, now when I try to view a channel MediaPortal crashes requiring a Ctrl+Alt+Delete to forcibly shut it down.

I have MP 0.2.3.0 and downloaded the TVEngine3 Snapshot: 12-21-2007 01-37h Revision 16693 TV Server and TV Client.

I have a dual Nova-T-500 PCI card in my machine, which worked with the inbuilt MP TV section.

I will try a fresh install of MP and TV-Server/Client but would be grateful if anyone could inform me if I am missing a vital step, or doing something wrong. As I understand I am using the Latest stable version of MP for the install.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I have MP 0.2.3.0 and downloaded the TVEngine3 Snapshot: 12-21-2007 01-37h Revision 16693 TV Server and TV Client..

MP, TVE3 & TVE3 plugin SVN versions should match. So using the 0.2.3.0 stable with 16693 is not supported.

Thanks tourettes for you reply. I´m fairly new to MP. all I really want is a stable system to record in .ts format so I can record all the audio streams. Which versions of MP TVEngine & Plugin do you recommend for this and if you could point me in the right direction to find them I would be extremely grateful.
