TvServer architecture and client switching (1 Viewer)

Hi, new guy here looking into rolling my own whole house audio/video solution. MP looks to be a really good solution, but I'm having a little bit of trouble tracking down a little bit of info. Any first hand knowledge or links to the appropriate documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, I'd like a little bit of information regarding the TV server architecture, and specifically what media can and cannot be streamed to the clients. From the wiki, it appears that live and recorded tv is streamed, but internet radio is not. Can the TV server also serve local media (local to the server) to the clients, or just tv?

Secondly, is there any mechanism, natively or with a plugin, to enable media, other than live tv, to be started on one client and resumed in another?

If I've overlooked any information that should have been obvious, I apologize.

The TV-Server is responsible for TV and Radio - nothing else. So it can not stream any other media to your clients. That is something we will do with MP2.

To be able to:
- start playing movieA on client 1
- stop playback after 10 minutes
- go to client 2
- select movieA
- resume playback from where you left with client 1
- you need to share the Mediaportal databases with all clients

To do that you need to move your MP database folder to your serverpc and then point all clients to that location.

The setup for central db is a bit strange when you do it the first time. if you have questions, just ask.
