Sure, I can see why it would be bad for you but for us UK Freeview users (and maybe others), it would be OK I think as we don't have multiple channels with the same name.
I don't see why this behaviour couldn't be toggled from TV Server config, so that it's there to make life easier for some of us and can be disabled for those of us for whom it would make life worse!
It's true, we have been here before, but it still seems like a valid point.
I can't pretend to understand most of what it says on that plugin thread, but I guess it will be a good idea if TVServer can use plugins to implement different functions/behaviour to suit different users.
