[TV] Two options for QAM scanning on N.A. digital cable (1 Viewer)

I recently set up an HTPC running MP for my mom. In her town the cable TV company broadcasts many stations Open QAM. After the scan completed I was left with a massive list of channels that all had gibberish names (ie. Unknown 637250-77). In trying to sort them out, I found that the value in the ServiceID field for each channel, was always an exact match for the channel number used by the cable company on the digital cable box.

Any chance a couple of check boxes could be added to the QAM scanning page, to allow "Copy SID to Channel # during scan", and "Copy SID to Channel name during scan"?

Assuming other cable companies do the same, this would make using TV server much easier for people on North American cable systems.

If you compare your setup to a normal STB. Does a normal STB have channel names?

the STB itself shows the channel number

the TV Guide shows both channel number and name sample... HDCBC 6

Then i think what you would want is not an option "Copy SID ....", but rather having MP detecting the name correctly? If a STB can detected the name of the channel i see no reason yet why MP should not be able to detect it correctly.
