Hi, I came across Kaleidescape a couple of weeks ago, and I must say that their UI for movies and music is very good, but unfortunately it's way to expencive for most people. So I was wondering what's the chance for getting a similar UI for Mediaportal? (Without getting sued to hell and back offcourse)

For those that don't know what it looks like take a look at

    http://www.kaleidescape.com/files/datasheets/Kaleidescape-Brochure.pdf

At page three there are some pictures of the various ways to see the movie lists,

    - One is a simple list with movie - genre - MPAA rating - main actor - other info.

    - One is a simple list of names on the left half, and the cover for the selected title on the other half.

    - One is a wall to wall carpet of the various DVD-covers, some info pops up on the selected movie. Also has another neat trick, look at this video to see what I mean:

Any chance to see anything like this in MP?

I know, the second I saw it I started thinking "How the heck can I get that system?"

But what hit me the most was the simplicity of the movie/music-listing. It looks so increadibly clean.

Yeah, it's awesome. My friend has it and it even interfaces with the chairs that move. So he has a complete private theater in his villa.

Yeah, for people wondering how much a system like this would cost, I sent an e-mail to the Norwegian retailer, and he came up with the following:

    4Kaleidescape KDISK-750-L750GB 59.040 NOK
Movie licenses for 5 stream 10.642 NOK
Music Licenses for 5 streams 10.642 NOK
    Mediaplayer with 2 CD/DVD drives 35.940 NOK
1U server with KEAOS licence 58.850 NOK
    Updates/Support and Software 14.719 NOK
    Startup cost 4.418 NOK

    In other words:

    1 server with 3GB storage
    1 Mediaplayer
Necesary software and licenses with lifetime support and updates:

194.251 NOK wich is about $32.000

But back to the topic, I see that EightyF is working on someting that looks alittle like the Kaleidescape, and I really hope he finnished it:
