Hello,

I have a tv tuner card (VistaView DA 1N1-I) which is listed among cards supported by Media Portal. My card is working on a trial version of Beyond TV, but I am unable to automatically scan for channels on my cable tv service with MP. This is unlike BTV which did it automatically. I notice that I do not live in one of the 3 or 4 major cities in Canada that are listed for this country. I haven't been able to find exact channel frequencies for Rogers Atlantic in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Does this mean that I will be unable to use the MP software? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

When you say you can not automatically scan, what do you mean? You do this under the TV-Server configuration and then MAP those channels from the tuner to the channel lineup before you exit TV-Server Config. ONLY then can MediaPortal see them.

Thanks for the reply. When I get to the config screen and expand the Television option and click channels I get one channel marked unknown. I can't recall how that got there. I probably just clicked add. When I click Lookup on the bottom right, I get a box that has country and city. I click Canada and it lists three cities, neither of which has the same channel service as mine. I tried to enter channels manually but the screen said I needed to enter frequencies. I emailed Rogers and I got this reply: "In your recent email, you have informed us that you would like to have a list of all of the analogue frequencies for channels in your region. We regret any inconvenience, but this information is not available on our website. Your complete channel line-up can be viewed at Redirect to the right page, but this does not include any information about frequencies. If there are any particular channels that you are inquiring about we would be happy to research this further for you. Please reply to this email with those channels. I probably need to RTFM. Like I said, Beyond TV could be configured by any idiot. I have too many irons in the fire. I'm not sure if I downloaded a manual or not. I will look. Any personal help would be appreciated.

I spent two days trying to figure this out myself. I finally gave up out of frustration lol. Im in Toronto Canada and subscribe to Rogers Cable. The software that came with my tv card scanned in the channels fine but it was pretty limited software. I tried gathering information here and following some video tutorials I found but for some reason when i scanned, it kept saying 0 channels found and there was no signal in the two signal bars no matter what i tried

hope you can figure it out.
