I have an MCE remote connected to HTPC running Windows 7 Ultimate. The goal is to use single remote to operate the HTPC, the TV and the amplifier.

I've tried IR server and LM remote keymap, both demonstrate the same behaviour. I open the debug program and point the remotes at the receiver; the LED inside receiver flashes as I press buttons and debug window shows that the commands are actually transmitted and received.

Then I try to "learn" the programs. The problem is that when I enter the "learn" mode and press buttons on any remote (TV, home theater, radio) the LED inside the receiver doesn't blink at all. I keep trying for about 30 seconds, then the "learning mode" times out. Immediately after the receiver becomes responsive again.

This is not a hardware problem - when I installed IR server for the very first time I was able to "learn" it to recognize two buttons from my TV remote and blast them back. Then I've rebooted the PC and since then have had no luck. No reinstalls and reboots did help.

upd: browsing through the archives gave me this: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/ir-server-suite-irss-165/learn-ir-does-not-work-77699/

It looks like I'll have to record IR files on XP machine and then transfer the setup to Windows 7 box..

Still no luck, even on XP machine.

It is XP Pro machine (English) with Russian MUI, 32bit. Plugged in the MCE USB receiver, allowed XP to install drivers (it didn't ask for CD and used the built-in driver), then installed IRSS keeping the default settings.

Below is the log of "Debug client", I've pressed one button on TV remote three times and then clicked the "Learn IR" button. As you can see, all following keypresses on the TV remote weren't registered. As long as "Learn IR" mode timed out, the debug program was able to register keypresses again.

I know that this in an old thread and I've read a few with this issue. I have been battling the same issue for days and was about to post here to ask for help when I stumbled upon the answer...

I am using Win7 & MP with a 1212 HD-PVR. I have an eHome IR receiver/blaster. In the TV Server config, I was never able to learn an IR code, it always timed out. In the TV3 Blaster Plugin config, I finally disabled the Hauppage receiver (it was checked because it was automatically detected). Then I could learn commands with no prob. I felt kinda silly that I hadn't tried that all week but I'm glad it works now!

Just wanted to post that in case it helps clear up someone else's issue. This is a great forum with great info. I am loving MediaPortal so far!

I solved the Problem for me!! I looked at the code from IRSS and found out that i need an active Transmit Plugin that supports learning.
After enabling the MCE transmit plugin it worked with an MCE Receiver but it seems that it is not working with my iMon VFD Display :(. I will take a closer look at this issue when i got time.
