I have k-lite codec pack installed.. ffdshow, hali etc.. Everything works great except - when i try to play a dvd it just flashes a black screen for a second and comes back to the mediaportal menu. I am able to play DVDs in mediaplayer 11 without problem. I am using the default dvd navigator.. any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem, I have the same setup only with the ati hd3200 on-board gfx. But I've tried using powerdvd for navigator/codec and still no luck. I would love to get this working so I could move my DVD player out of my room.

This might be a long shot, but have you tried selecting a different audio codec? I had trouble playing DVDs and the reason was because AC3filter was trying to attach itself as a video filter. Caused all kinds of chaos. So try playing with different codes and see if that solves anything.

Do you have reclock enabled? I get totally messed up decoder graphs when I use reclock (only watching DVD, videos are fine).

I have the same problem but only with dvds ripped to .iso files. MP play DVDs in a VIDEO_TS folder without problem.
and it is not a problem with deamon tools as the iso is mounted just fine

Here is what I found to be most reliable for DVD-playback (on M.P 1.0.2, XP SP3)¨:
    - Video codec: PowerDVD9
    - Audio codec: FFDShow
    - Navigator: MS

Not a big fan of codec packs, but I guess the K-lite basic edition is OK.

I'd recommend having the following installed:
    - PowerDVD (for DXVA material - google DXVA.rar)
    - Haali media splitter. (Site down ATM? Alt. DL link)
    - FFDShow tryouts - for audio
    - Also: Use the DXVA-subs patch if you are @ 1.0.2 (included in 1.1 ALPHA).

Nothing else is needed, IMO (except .flv-splitter if needed).

That codec setup didn't change anything here. However I cannot change the navigator. The only option I have is DVD Navigator.

No. Only thing I have installed that could temper with the cd drives is deamon tools lite. Nothing else. It's newly installed machine so theres only the things necessary to use MP. But I think it happened after i installed K-lite but in not sure

You could uninstall it and try running what I recommend.

    PS: You gotto make sure:
    - To use right PowerDVD version (9-works here)
    - To use FFDShow for audio
