When I insert a DVD into the PC it spins up and MP asks if I want to play the disc. I clcik "yes", and nothing happens.

I am using the internal DVD Navigator as I have no other DVD player software installed.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of settings for the DVD section, so I don't think I have missed anything that would cause the discs not to play.

They used to work before I went to 1.1.0 Final.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

If I was a guessing man (as we have no logs) - I'd check that "My Videos" is enabled.

Other than that guess, it could be codec related???

    Logs please.... :D

    AW: Unable to play DVDs

    Hello.

I had the same probem this week and the reason was really silly.
Try to play your DVD via Microsoft Media Player. If you get a message to choose the correct area code, then you had the same problem like me.

Thanks for the responses guys, however, as I have taken the day off work today I'm going to install Windows 7 as a clean install and start again with everything. I need to move on from XP and I feel now is the time as I have been putting it off for a while... same feelings as when visiting the dentist!

I upgraded to Windows 7 yesterday - had to go out an buy a new wifi card as I couldn't get drivers for my existing one.

I have to say that MP has never worked so well! I would thoroughly recommend it!

The problems with the DVD player have gone completely. Just before I wiped the HDD, Windows XP wouldn't even recognise that a blank DVD was inserted - it just kept coming up with a 700Mb capacity CD-R, so it looks like the problem was in XP, not MP.

Thanks for the suggestions, and as always, you are all a really helpful bunch of folk!

    Hi ,

I actually get this issue as well.
I have been using MP for a year now and actually had never tested DVD as I use my normal DVD instead and very rarely. I tried today and got same as the other guy here. I put in the DVD and click play and it says insert disk...
If I close MP I can see the very same disk contents in explorer and I know the drive and disk is fine (new and original DVD disk).
So as per above I tested with windows media player and it will NOT play either - I get the error as per the attached screen shot. I have also attached all logs (note the time I tested was 7.25pm - and turned logging to debug to get rich logs).
ALso attached is the CODEC settings for DVD. Note I dont have DVD s/w installed other than the dlls that come with SAF. I had been using SAF 4 (stable) and DVD did not work - for the test for which I send logs, I am using SAF 5.0 to see if that fixed - but got same issue.

Not sure on the comment regarding enablement of "My Videos" - what diff does that make ?

ANy guidance is appreciated - other wise will continue to use normal DVD play (and the additional remote and switching audio and video in etc).

See my profile for system setup.

    Cheers

    Hi Ben,

My issue with MP and DVD's is still there. I can play them in Windows Media Player without problems, but they don't get recognised in MP at all.

It doesn't really bother me as I don't watch many DVD's, but full functionality via MP would have been great, however, I'm not prepared for a bunch of hassle to get something working that I don't use often. Just to note that DVD's worked in MP 1.0.2.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help - the problem may go away when I upgrade to a BluRay player.

    Ben

    DVD with audio tracks?
This DVD doesnot have DVD structure (VIDEO_TS folder). That is reason why it doesnot play.
    Looks like Audio CD (?DVD?).
