I'm trying to setup MediaPortal but I have run into a problem with a message stating: "Kan ikke starte tidsforskudt optagelse" which is very similar to what the preview option is reporting, tv-server reports "UnableToStartGraph"

Steps to reproduce:
1) Start MP and watch a tv channel
2) Close MP
3) Start MP again and attempt to watch a tv channel

Additional info:
The same thing happens when previewing a channel in the tv-server for the second time, only with a slightly different error message.

Initially I had this problem right away, but setting the card to be preloaded allowed me to watch a channel the first time. Unchecking the pre-load option does not cause the problem to revert back to the initial problem where the failure would occur on the first attempt.

Examining the logs, I noticed a complaint about a possible PMT timeout, I tried doubling the timeout to 20 seconds without any effect.

Restarting the service, allows me to watch tv once, regardless if I use the services mgr or TV-Server configuration to restart the service.

Cheers
Anton
ps. I have tried to follow the guidelines for support, to the best of my understanding, if any information is missing please let me know.

pps. running the MP-DEBUG tool requires admin priviledges, is that on purpose?

    Anton,

the posted information is OK, except for the missing debug level :)

How did you set up your system, single-seat or client/server? It appears that for some reason MP can no longer connect to the server because the access is blocked. Judging from the log you are running a hypothetical single-seat setup, but it doesn't behave like it. The TV_Server log reports that port 31456 is blocked. The funny thing is that it runs at the first time but not at the second attempt.

If you want to debug the current installation then try to deactivate the firewall to see if the problems are then gone. If yes, check the following firewall settings

    ◦full network access for "tvservice.exe"
    ◦full network access for "setuptv.exe"
    ◦full network access for "mediaportal.exe"
◦port 1433 (TCP) and 1434 (UDP) for MSSQL
    ◦port 3306 (TCP) for MySQL

If the problems are not resolved by this I would recommend to migrate to RC4. This will require some work (not too much though):
    - Export your TV channels (groups only)
    - Note important settings (if you don't know them by heart)
    - Install RC4 (which will uninstall the old 1.0.2)
    - Run channel search
    - Import the groups from above
    - Arrange your settings

It shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes and you will enjoy a greatly improved Mediaportal when compared to 1.0.2.

    Cheers,
