TV-Server Version: svn--02-16-2008--05-04-Rev17397
MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0
Windows Version: XP Pro
CPU Type: Celeron D 2.66Ghz
HDD: 120GB(not sure of model)
Memory: 1.278gb
Motherboard: AsusTeK P4C800-E Rev 1.xx
Motherboard Bios: American Megatrends 07/22/04 Ver 08.00.09
Video Card: Radeon X1650
Sound Card: C-Media

After I install Media Portal and try to run the configuration tool the following message pops up:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.... Retrieving the COM class factory for component CLSID {148BD52A-A2AB-11CE-B11F-00AA00530503} failed due to the following error: 80040154"

I have attached the full details.

I thought it might be the machine as I had installed it onto a lew spec machine with no problems. But when I tried installing it on my MediaCentre machine the same error occurs. Any idea what the problem might be and how I can fix it?

The Mediacentre machine has a 500gb SATA HDD, a platinum Creative Sound Card, Radeon 9550 graphics, 1.5gb's memory and an AMD 2.6Ghz processor. The crap machine which it is working on has an AMD Sempron 1.6Ghz, 968mbs (old style memory - no DDR) a 32mb graphics card, onboard sound on a saltek motherboard - it's pretty basic :)

Thanks

the graphics would definately cause issues when trying to run MP, but I doubt it would cause an exception when trying to run config.
Do you have .net v 3 installed? I think that may be a requirement for even config to run.

Not much point though, if MP isn't going to run on the machine anyway though...

I have .net 3 installed on all three machines. I'm surprised that the graphics card would be an issue in the machines that are having the problem? The old machine (which is the one that working fine) has an old 32mb card in it while the other two have a 128mb Radeon and a 512mb radeon - I would have thought that would be fine?

I did wonder myself if it could be a .net problem, but it is installed. I might try uninstalling all the versions of .net and reinstalling them. Can I just install the latest version, or do they all have to be installed, and in the right order, for it to work?

    Thanks again for the response.

I have tried uninstalling all the .Net version son the machine and re-installing them, but I still get this error message. Can anybody suggest something else that might be causing the problem?

    Thanks.

Apparently this can also be caused by corrupted codecs, as well as incorrectly registered dll's.

Try running filmerit and see if there are any errors.
