I recently bought a Philips SRU 7040 universal remote which I use for my TV and Amplifier. I would of course be nice if I could also use it to control MP so I can get rid of one more remote. So I used the learing functionality of the URC to learn the commands from the original MCE remote I normally use. Problem is MP only seems to accept each specific button one time only; if I press the up-button for instance it wil work only once, the second button press is unresponsive. When I press another button (e.g. ok) after pressing up; the Up-button will work again, one time. The IR-receiver does flash it LED, so the URC seems to be sending normally. I've read somthing about MCE remotes toggle commands, but that didn't make much sense to me.

I'm currently using the Replacement PlugIn v 1.0.3.2 (I know it's old but works) without the use of the replacement driver due start up problems.

Any ideas what is happening or suggestions how to fix this?

Does this remote work with MCE?

You could try the IR-Server suite, but I have no idea if that would solve your problem.

Sounds like the remote isn't sending the toggle code. IR Server Suite or a newer version of the MCE Replacement plugin shouldn't care about that...

You'd need to apply the registry change detailed in the "You dont need..." post in my signature to make a newer MCE Replacement or IR Server Suite work with your Universal remote.

Also, Since I last posted in the thread you linked to above I've made a lot of changes... so it might work now, but also, you dont need the replacement driver now anyway (as per the "you dont need ..." post).

    Good luck,

I use a Philips learning remote to replace my MCE remote.

You need to disabled debounce in the registry, because the MCE remote toggles codes and the learning remote only learns/sends one of these codes.

    The key is called EnableDebounce:

    Should be located here:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da
    or here:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\idIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Once I change this registry setting everything works for me.

Works perfectly now thaks to the reg fix, that the solution could be so simple! :D

And-81, I will try the IR server soon to see if the start up problem is fixed for me, so I can use the replacement drive which would have some advantages for me.

You shouldn't need the replacement driver if you use a new MCE replacement plugin or IR Server Suite, you make some other changes to your registry and you get the same effect.

    Cheers,
