Ok I first found media portal about 2 years ago and it works well. the other week I decided to upgrade to the latest version.
my previous install worked fine but just somewhat slow.
anyway I was using WinXP 32 bit + SP2 and I have to upgrade to SP3 to be able to install the new MP version.
I upgraded to SP3 and installed the latest MP version. now like 35% of my videos when it plays... I hear the sound but no picture.
how do I fix that? is it a codec pack I need to update or some setting I should check?

Does it have anything to do with Windows Media Player 11? I don't like it and usually use VLC for some video files that I don't play within mediaportal. so I never activite/install WMP11 fully
