Updating RC version and Streamed MP.. (1 Viewer)

If I want to update my version of Mediaportal from an RC version of 1.1.0
to the final one...do i just install it?
or do I need to do somethings beforehand?

I was also going to update my version of StreamMP and the associated plugins..
such as...
MovingPictures
TV Series
using the StreamedMP package that includes these plugins

I assume I can just install the new package and it will update to the new versions??

I also assume I should first update the Mediaportal version first?

I use the TV part as well ..with a twin tuner set-up.
So will updating Mediaportal lose all my Tuner/station set-up?

I havent upgraded either my Mediaportal version or StreamMP version before..so need
some advice here...
especially if I update Mediaportal version as I am using it for TV ...and am wondering if
I will have to reset-up my tuners/channels again?

Anyone more experienced help with some advice?

When reading this guide from Wiki....

it seems to be saying in the upgrade instructions it is better to go for a fresh install?
in other words it is better to un-install everything and start again?

This is why I am asking the question..about installation?
it has me confused?

it talks about BACKING UP various files earlier in the guide..
then says later....the following...which is confusing!!

"# If possible, please do a clean installation, which means not to re-use old configuration files, plugins or skins.

Re-using these files has a high chance to break your new installation of MediaPortal, because of the changes in the new release. "

so which is it ...when upgrading from an RC version of Mediaportal 1.1.0.... to the final??
I am using it for TV as well..

Anyone??

When I upgraded i did a fresh install

goto the database directory and backup the .dll files that you want to keep
I suggest you backup musicdatabase,tvseries,movingpics
then you need to also backup some of the images from the thumbs directory
I suggest everything from music,movingpics, and tvseries
from memory i think tv series actually uses 2 subdirs in thumbs so be sure to get both
there is an option in tv server config to backup the settings, you should probably do that, however i didn't bc it doesn't take long to setup anyway
then uninstall mp
then restart computer
then install mp1.1 final
then install latest version of streamedmp
reinstall saf if you use it
then copy the backed up database files and thumbs files
restart computer
then run tv server config & mp config
now you should be good to go

I thought this sounded like what I was going to have to do...
and I was groaning...Oh No!!...haha

I was hoping there was an upgrade way...but looks like blow it all away and start again.

Its one way of understanding MediaPortal better...hehe!

oh u can try upgrade if you want to, bc u can upgrade any MP1.1 RC version to MP1.1 Final

why don't u backup mediaportal app data directory
try an upgrade
if problems then proceed to fresh install
