Hi Im a newbe but i'v been at it for a while i had MediaPortal (i think it was 0.2.4) on a machine for the kids and up graded the hard drives to put our whole dvd colection on it as the latest youngster has developed a habit of "playing" with the dvd's.

Any way all was well untill i decided to upgrade to MediaPlayer 1 RC4 (lost all the database - thought that might happen but) now it won't play the TV.

The Twinhan DTV-DVB TV card works with the software that came with it but I can't find anywhere to select it in the config and i don't know anything about TV-Server. I have tried to run the test (with the password in )but I get an error about "no process on the other end of the pipe"?

I have checked out the online manual and it talks about settings for the capture/TV card but i can't find where that would be in the config program - i'v spent hours looking for a fix.

Can you help please?????

Did you follow the default install, or did you pre-install anything yourself.

Not connecting usually related to your config of M$Sql, look here for getting this right.

Make sure sqlbrowser is running and should be set to automatic under its Services setting.

A reboot sometimes helps as well :)

I did the one click install - don't even know if i have a sqlbrowser?

I know nothing of sql at all and would be happy for media portal to just play the TV from my digital TV card like it used to. it's just a stand alone unit - i'm trying to crawl before i walk :)

    Yes success!!!

Although i don't know why? whenever i tried the test in the tv server it gave me the error i talked about but I did a cut and paste for the password and it worked - is it case sensitive maybe??

Anyway top job to you guys this is great :D keep up the fantastic work !!!!!! what a massive step forward MP has taken.

I look forward to seeing what it becomes in the future!!!

    :D
